Was your business degree worth it? Here’s five reasons entrepreneurs are ditching the university business degree.

The value of a traditional business degree has been questioned recently. Everyone has a degree these days and some say they lose their value by the time you graduate. Especially in today’s economy that values remote work, experience and skills.

Until recently, a university education was framed as a no-brainer.

You finish school, you get a degree. The end. No discussion about it.

The rhetoric from some working parents was — “kid, you’ve got opportunities that your mother and I never had, and there’s stiff competition out there these days. So, go get a degree, and eat your broccoli”.

Other wealthier parents didn’t even discuss alternative options. The assumption was you’ll go to uni and that was that.

In Mum and Dad’s defense, graduates typically do have greater earning potential and employability than non-graduates. In Australia, over 63% of the working population have a degree or diploma, and a third of all businesses owners are degree qualified. But the landscape may change in the near future.
