What’s Lady Whistledown Got To Do With Your Life Purpose?

It seems every person alive is swooning over the Netflix series Bridgerton with its drop dead stunning actors, regency gowns, refreshing diverse lead roles and not to mention — the shenanigans ‘polite society’ get up to when no one is watching. But it’s Lady Whistledown’s surreptitious gossip column cleverly woven into the twists and turns of the debutante's ball season, that had me at hello.

So why does Lady Whistledown intrigue us so much?

I’ll tell you dearest reader. We get to see her flip side — the real person behind the successful Lady Whistledown and we can all relate.

We get to see the imperfect one. The one who is mocked and ignored by her peers and family. The one not expected to marry well (or marry at all for that matter). The one who’s socially awkward because she’s been ridiculed for so long. In other words, the one with a shitload of real life and often relatable struggles (not just ‘oh, which shade of grey-blue looks best with my chestnut hair’ type dilemmas).

And yet she seems to rise above the opinions of her family and the shit-show cards she’s been dealt (including society’s suffocating restrictions it placed on females at this time), to become a mysterious, coveted and successful writer! Even more intriguing is how she cleverly exploits her…
